The global warming tribes

A classification system for global warming ideologies.

We find ourselves in a world awash in global warming hysteria ginned up by our betters and their ignorant minions in order to frighten us into submission and compliance.  This climate Sword of Damocles is the perfect scapegoat for which to blame all misfortunes, and to justify a level of control and oppression that might make Big Brother or Kim Jong-un cringe. 

As a guide, I offer a taxonomic system: the three tribes of global warming.  The beliefs of two of them lead to the same place, which is a reasonable approach to climate change, whether it be natural or man-made, and a better future for our world.  The third tribe—The Cult of Global Warming—is comprised of maniacs whose pathology causes real harm—and they intend much more of it.  And by “much more” I mean a shitload more—up to and including genocide.   

Tribe No. 1 – The Sane

This tribe includes the many decent people who just want to be left alone to go about their lives as best they can (i.e., the people who actually make society function).  It also includes those scientists who aren’t afraid to speak up against the Cult of Global Warming.  I strongly recommend listening to what these scientists and other skeptics have to say.  They come across as nice, thoughtful people who make cogent arguments in support of their position.      

Basic tenets:

• Climate change and extreme weather events have always occurred on Earth, including prior to the Industrial Age.  There is nothing unusual about today’s climate or weather extremes.  
• Climate change occurs due to myriad natural causes, sometimes drastically, over both short and long periods of time.  This is confirmed by both historical and geological records. 
• Sea level has been rising for tens of thousands of years since the beginning of the current interglacial period.  The vast bulk of this rise occurred prior to the Industrial Age.  In some locations other factors are involved, such as natural subsidence or man-caused subsidence (e.g., over-pumping groundwater).  In other locations, the sea level is dropping due to isostasy.  In general, the rate of natural sea level rise shows no discernable acceleration.   
• Man-made CO₂ is not causing climate change.
• CO₂ is not a pollutant.  It is essential for life on Earth and is food for plants. 
• A prudent society prepares for natural climate change and extreme weather events.  This includes:
  • Harden buildings and infrastructure against storms, fires, floods, sea level rise and fall, etc.
  • Prohibit development in areas subject to undue risk.
  • Strategic planning for a shift in rainfall patterns and its impact on agriculture and others dependent on this water.
• The “heat island effect” increases the temperature in urban areas due to the replacement of natural landscape with concrete and asphalt.  Heat from vehicles and machinery also contributes.  
• Science is never “settled.”  A so-called “consensus” is meaningless if subsequently proven wrong or replaced by a better explanation, which itself may face a similar fate at some point in the future.  Some of the greatest discoveries in history were by people who defied consensus.    
• There must be no censorship of scientific debate or in general.  Forcibly imposed groupthink is a manifestation of the pathological insecurity inherent to totalitarianism.  The more oppressively the proponents of a particular position censor a contrary position, the less likely is the veracity of their position or their own self-confidence in it.  The attack on those challenging the Cult of Global Warming’s narrative is proof this cult is totalitarian—and a shrill as hell one, to boot.  
• Economies need cheap, reliable energy.  Human society has greatly benefitted from fossil fuels.
• Wind and solar projects are a misdirection of resources and not a viable option to maintain modern economies or allow Third World countries to achieve a better standard of living.
• The staggering amount of solar and windfarms required to meet energy needs would themselves drastically alter the landscape and affect the weather and climate.     
• Modern agriculture is a miracle of human achievement and is hugely dependent on fossil fuels.  There are far more human beings and they are much better fed because of this.  For the first time in human history, obesity is a far more prevalent problem than is famine.    
• A person does not have the right to dictate what other people eat.  As people become better off, they tend to want to eat more meat—and that’s okay.   
• Ideally, everyone on Earth would have at least a middle-class standard of living. 
• People everywhere want cars and the freedom of movement this brings.
• People also want air conditioning in hot weather, heat in the winter, decent housing, lighting, and the other accoutrements of modern society.
• It is immoral to thwart the efforts of poor people to improve their living standards, even if the improvement requires the use of fossil fuels.  To do so is racist eco-imperialism.     
• Society must prepare for the eventual depletion of fossil fuels.  The widespread use of nuclear power must be encouraged, as well as continuous research regarding energy technologies, including improved nuclear fission, development of nuclear fusion, hydrogen, energy efficiency, etc. 
• Eliminating air pollution is a worthy goal.  Air pollution control efforts will reduce CO₂ at the same time.  Therefore, we must worry about lowering CO₂ too much, as this will impact plant growth.  In general, plants like hot weather and CO₂.
• People who claim they believe in global warming are immoral hypocrites if they avail themselves of carbon offsets or other greenwashing methods.   
• There is no climate emergency or impending doom.  It is the Cult of Global Warming that poses an existential threat to mankind.  

Tribe No. 2 – The Reasonable

This tribe also includes scientists not afraid to speak out.  It is by far the smallest of the three tribes.  Listen to these scientists, as well.   

Basic tenets:

• Man-made CO₂ is causing climate change.
• These changes are not imminently or necessarily apocalyptic.
• Any deleterious consequences of climate change must be weighed against both the benefits of a warming world and CO₂ richer atmosphere (yes, these benefits exist) and the negative impacts of reducing the use of fossil fuels, especially for the World’s poor. 
• Adaptation is a viable alternative for consideration.
• Otherwise agree with Tribe No. 1’s tenets, especially the use of nuclear power. (Nuclear and hydroelectric power have miniscule “carbon footprints” in relation to their power output.)

Tribe No. 3 – The Cult of Global Warming

This tribe is characterized by virtue-signaling, heavy-handedness, sanctimony, hypocrisy, lying, hysteria, exaggeration, fudging data, and a juvenile understanding of how modern economies and agriculture work.  It is a fanatical religious cult that is hellbent on the willful destruction and subjugation of modern society, though some of its members won’t realize this until it’s too late.      

The Cult is comprised of people—disproportionately the White Woke—who embrace its mindless tenets either out of conviction, connivence, or cowardice.  This is the tribe that gets by far the most sympathetic coverage in the media and is embraced by most governments in Western countries.  

More specifically, who makes up this tribe?  It is comprised of a number of pathologies:

• Control freaks – love telling others what they can and cannot do, can and cannot say.
• Anti-capitalists – want capitalism undermined, if not outright destroyed.
• Empty lives – need the drama of “global warming” hysteria to fill their empty lives.
• Grifters – may not believe in global warming but see the opportunity to make tons of money.
• Self-destructive – like to break things, including their own and other people’s lives.
• Genocidal – want far fewer people on Earth; a sect of this subtribe wants no people on Earth; eventually these guys shall make Himmler look like an amateur.  
• Cowards – nonbelievers who go along out of fear; many scientists are in this subtribe.
• Hypocrites – have far larger carbon footprints than the average of the other two tribes; includes Al Gore, Barak Obama, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, John Kerry; they are the pigs who took over Farmer Jones’ house in Animal Farm.
• Racists – if we define racism as disproportionately harming people of another race or engaging in eco-imperialism by telling another race what they can or cannot do, then these people are patent racists; they thwart energy projects in Third World countries and want far fewer of these nonWhite people; the White Woke members of the Cult are racist eco-imperialists.
• Narcissists – celebrity dunderheads and their mindless attention-seeking. (“Look at me! I care!”)

Basic tenets (imposed on others but not necessarily themselves):

• Climate change is irrefutably proven real, caused by manmade CO₂, and poses an imminent, apocalyptic threat to mankind and the Earth.
• Everything—and I mean everything— bad occurring in the world is caused by climate change.
• The control of every aspect of other people’s lives is justified, no matter how micromanagey.
• Dissent must be crushed.  (Some in this tribe have gone so far as to suggest war crimes charges and the death penalty for dissenters.) 
• We must stop eating meat.  We must start eating insects or lab grown mean (Frankenmeat).
• We must have fewer children, no children, or go extinct. (This tribe has an ample supply of would-be death camp operators.)
• No vacations (e.g., “plane shaming”).
• No A/C.
• No cars.
• If we must drive cars, then they must be electric vehicles—so long as the necessary raw materials are mined in a Third World country.
• Degrowth must happen.  (This tribe has a childishly naïve fetish for pre-industrial societies—and would last about two seconds if forced to live in one.)  
• We must build wind and solar farms—except where our members protest this.
• The use of fossil fuels must end.
• The use of petrochemicals must end.
• Agriculture must revert to small, organic boutique farming.  (At least one maniac in this tribe wants to end agriculture!)  
• Even things predicted by scientists as possibly happening decades or centuries from now are brought forward as imminent threats or is actually occurring now.  (The Cult’s Book of Revelations is the only chapter in their Bible.)
• Catastrophic sea level rise is occurring and oceanfront properties are doomed—but okay for purchase by our oligarch members.
• Off-shoring industrial pollution from Western countries to other countries is okay.
• Off-shoring the mining of the minerals necessary for solar and wind projects is okay.
• Carbon offsets are an absolution of one’s carbon sins, whether or not these offsets are verified or if it permanently relegates a Third World people to their present standard of living.
• No nuclear power or hydroelectric dams.  (Adults who say they believe in apocalyptic global warming, but are also against nuclear power, are foolish children.  “Children of the Corn” type.)
• Climate change or extreme weather events did not occur prior to the Industrial Age.
• Storms, floods, drought, etc., are worse and more frequent than they’ve ever been.
• When specific predictions of doom fail to materialize, offer zero acknowledgement or contrition. In fact, claim the result is also the result of global warming.

Lord, help us.  The Cult of Global Warming is ascendent and largely running the show in Western countries.  If we don’t wake up and actively resist their madness, all three tribes are doomed.
