Dear non-Woke: Don’t be like the Woke

Jasmine Crockett is entitled to freedom of speech.

Jasmine Crockett is an über-Woke, utterly moronic, Democrat congresswoman who supports odious policies, including censorship of those she doesn’t like. Nevertheless, she is entitled to the same right to freedom of speech as the rest of us. I’m talking about the basic human right, which goes beyond that specified in the United States Constitution. Here’s the United Nations statement on this right:

“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Article 19, United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Signed December 10, 1948

As I’ve said many times—and shall continue to do so until my penultimate and last dying breaths—freedom of speech is our most important right. Without it, you shall lose all your other rights. Rights come with responsibilities. The right to free speech comes with the responsibility to endure speech you don’t agree with, perhaps the speech of people you justifiably loathe. Defend this right and do so more broadly than described in our Constitution.

What did Ms. Crockett say?

Not much really, as far as speech goes. Seriously, it was benign as hell, and certainly tame by the standards of my own snarky rhetoric. She referred to the wheelchair-bound governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, as “Hot Wheels.” [Yawn. Seriously…yawn.]

Were I in Governor Abbott’s shoes (or wheels), I’d respond, “Hey, that’s kind of a cool nickname.” Maybe deck out my wheelchair with the Hot Wheels logo. And then take the opportunity offered by this manufactured kerfuffle to remind people of her vile policy positions, such as her rapid support for transgender ideology, DEI, and open borders—and, most importantly, make it a teaching moment about the importance of free speech and how the non-Woke are (damn well supposed to be) respectful of this right and shall defend it, including for our imbecilic political foes. This would show the non-Woke are far better human beings than the Woke.

Instead, the opportunity was wasted. Too predictably, a slew of non-Woke pundits piled on with shock and outrage at the quip. [Sigh.] “Mom, she said something bad!” Some fools suggested Congress censure her for this nothingburger remark.

The Woke are insufferable fascists who want to censor others—and the non-Woke are right to criticize them for this and fight like hell against it. Don’t be like the Woke. Resist the temptation. And, for the love of God, don’t propose she be formerly admonished by Congress or demand she apologize.

Giving Ms. Crockett a comeuppance for her bon mot does not make the world a better place. Far from it. It disrespects the right to free speech and makes those who attack her for this quip appear weak and thin-skinned, you know, like the Woke who whine about words and expressed notions not to their liking and want offenders to suffer meaningful consequences.

Attack Ms. Crockett on her vile Woke ideology and contrast these with clearly explained versions of your non-Woke one. Do not stupidly toss aside a powerful weapon we can use to defeat the Woke and unite the non-Woke of every political persuasion in the fight against the implementation of their evil tenets. In other words, let Ms. Crockett and her dunderheaded ilk keep yapping.
